About the North Wales Land Rover Club

A Little History...
The North Wales Land Rover Club (NWLRC) began its life in the Spring of 1986, when a handful of Land Rover enthusiasts – David Mitchell, John Nuttall with Mike and Pauline Morris – arranged a meeting at the Sportsman’s pub on Denbigh Moor. They invited several like-minded people and from those attending a committee was formed.

Since then the club has gone from strength to strength and today has a membership of around 200 who between them own just about every model that Land Rover has ever produced. Members live in all parts of North Wales from the Eastern  Marches, across the Vale of Clwyd to Snowdonia, the coast and Anglesey. In fact, the club even has members living as far afield  as Scotland and Germany.

From the outset the club has been keen to provide its members with activities that will enable them to get the most enjoyment from their Landys. Each year there are RTV and CCV  trial championships,  greenlaning, caravan and camping weekends and other social events. There are also monthly pub meetings and a bi-monthly magazine ‘Dragon’s Drivel’.
The club has always been a strong supporter of Land Rover events across the country;  members regularly compete in the Land Rover Nationals and Majors trials as well as entering a team every year for the War of the Roses.
In 1997 NWLRC hosted the Nationals event and by common consent amongst the NWLRC committee it was the best ever!   More recently in 2007 NWLRC took an undertaking to become ‘climate neutral’ in order to negate the potentially damaging effects of CO2 produced by the club’s activities.

North Wales offers Land Rover owners all that they could possibly wish for: greenlanes, excellent trial sites and for those with shiny Landys some fantastic tarmac drives amidst stunning scenery. The club welcomes all Land Rover enthusiasts and owners, with whatever model, from  the original 80” of 1948 to the latest Range Rover Sport & Freelander. The competitions are run under the ALRC rules so if you wish to enter a competition the vehicle should be either standard, virtually as it left the factory, or if modified, use predominantly Land Rover parts, sorry no Japanese engines!
