Celebrating 25 Years of NWLRC Achievement

This web page sets out to record the various antics and achievements of the club over the past 25 years and to recognise those that have represented the club.
We know that the details shown here are far from complete and that there is a great deal still to add. Can you help? We would very much welcome any additional information of events or results that are not yet shown here. Hopefully we can post  details going right back to 1986! Please let me know. stuart.guy@btinternet.com

THE NATIONALS

Who have been our winners and stars from previous Nationals?

THE MAJORS MEMORIAL
The Late Major Ben Hervey Bathhurst (owner of Eastnor Castle) was involved with Land Rover and the Midland Rover Owners club for many years. Being a keen Land Rover trial competitor he started ‘The Major’s’ in 1969 as an inter club CCV challenge where the best drivers from each club would enter as a team, the team with the lowest combined scores winning the coveted Rose Bowl. The event is held over two days with competitors having to complete a total of 20 trial sections. (Ten CCV sections each day).

The North Wales Land Rover Club regularly enters a team into the Major's Memorial:
2010  - Team 1:Colin Davies, Howard Morris and Wyn Williams
(Position: Second over all out of 36 teams)!
          - Team 2: John Bradshaw, Tim Mackley and Malcolm Summer (Position: 19th out of 36 teams)

WAR OF THE ROSES
The ‘War of the Roses’ is an annual Land Rover team competition thatusually takes place on the last Sunday of June. It is a bit like an insane version of “It’s a knockout” (for those of you under the age of 40, this was once a popular television programme). The ‘war’ is organised by the Red Rose Land Rover Club and takes place each summer near the picturesque village of Cartmel at the southern end of the Lake District. Nine teams from around the UK compete by undertaking nine challenges that each require, by varying degrees, a combination of ingenuity, muscle, courage, (some might say stupidity), winching and
general good Land Rover skills. Each team includes six members and three cars. No pior knowledge of the tasks are known and each team can choose to take whatever equipment it considers might be useful to them (subject to the scrutiniser’s approval). A team must start and finish the event with all of the same people, vehicles and equipment that they started the event, regardless of any damage or injuries have been sustained during the day!
